Granite Baking Stone – Rectangle Pastry Stone
Our beautiful granite baking stone is a must-have if you love baking bread at home! But why stop at bread when there are so many other things you can use the stone for including:
- Homemade pizza
- Sourdough loaf
- Garlic bread
The stone promotes even heat and holds that heat well which allows for an even, steady bake which you won’t get from a regular baking sheet. You will find that the stone also absorbs extra moisture that will make your bake crispier.
You need to let your stone heat up in the oven while you’re preheating the oven -placing a cold stone in a hot oven can result in potential cracking.
The stone will fit comfortably in a standard size oven (see product dimensions below).
You can also use the stone as a pastry stone, Knead, roll and shape to your hearts content with our fabulous hand-crafted granite pastry board. Thanks to its smooth, cool surface, granite makes the perfect pastry board.
You can use both sides of the stone so it is perfect for serving hot and cold food. You can also use it as a chopping board.

Soon after embarking on the home baking fad, it quickly became apparent to me that I needed a Baking Stone. I read numerous reviews posted on sites that supplied Granite Stones and it soon became apparent that sometimes these stones can break or even shatter when in the hot oven. I must have innocently mentioned to my wife that I would have to get myself a stone, because shortly afterwards I received a stone as a birthday present. This was most unexpected because I don’t go extravagant for birthday presents. Following the knowledge of how they can shatter I was meticulous in following the instructions prior to using the stone. This stone is fantastic and has transformed the end results of my baking efforts. Now I am sure that most stones will do the job and prices vary up and down, but I want to mention my experience When dealing with Black Rock. I leave my stone in the oven all the time, so it heats up from cold with the oven itself. A couple of days ago I decided to take the stone out in order to give it a clean and to my horror I found a hairline crack going straight through the stone and running from side to side. I emailed Black Rock Grill and within 10 minutes !!!, Louise responded. I was asked to send a couple of photos which I did right away and before the end of the day, there was a replacement stone heading my way. What a fantastic response and absolutely brilliant customer service. These stones are not cheap, but Louise didn’t question anything and in less than one day put my mind at rest. Apparently sometimes these stones can have an internal imperfection that cannot be seen externally, so I was just unlucky. The stone looks great and works brilliantly. In future, I am not going to quibble over finding something a pound or two cheaper. If Black Rock Grill are selling what I am looking for, they are going to be my supplier.
Thank you very much for your review. Very valuable to us and made my day :) Happy baking! Regards Louise, Black Rock Grill
Excellent service - product was promptly dispatched and arrived well packaged and undamaged. The stone is exactly what I was after. I've used it several times now with excellent results with both home baked bread and pizza.
Thank you for your review, happy baking!
I had a challenge using a discount code and emailed to advise. The refund was put through PayPal in the blink of an eye and Peter responded with the reason behind the challenge. The Baking stone also arrived in an absolutely sodden box (the delivery driver said it had been left out all night at the depot!) and I advised Peter of the situation (who was furious) and he advised he would contact his DPD rep. Could have been a very challenging purchase however the service was so good there was no stress. Oh - and the baking stone is very cool, I’m sure my hubby will love it when he opens it!
